Of the four fashion styles in Cyberpunk 2077, one quietly became a real-world search term of its own: neomilitarism. It is the corporate style of Night City, worn by Arasaka security, Militech contractors and the executives who sign their paychecks. And unlike the neon-and-chrome looks most people picture when they hear "cyberpunk", it is a style you can wear to an office, a dinner or a job interview without anyone blinking. This guide explains what it is and how to build it from real clothes.
The usual note: NEOMACHI is an independent brand from Amsterdam, not affiliated with CD Projekt Red. No corporate logos from the game here, just original designs in the same spirit.
What is neomilitarism?
Before the game launched, CD Projekt Red defined four visual styles for Night City, each with a tagline. Neomilitarism's is substance over style. It sits next to Entropism (necessity over style), Kitsch (style over substance) and Neokitsch (substance and style), which we break down in Cyberpunk 2077 inspired clothing.
In practice it means clothes that look like a uniform without being one: cold, sharp, modern, built to suggest the wearer could step out of a corporate aircraft and into a firefight. It is military tailoring for people who never have to fight themselves. If you picked the Corpo life path, this is the world V starts in.
The five rules
- Dark, limited palette. Black, charcoal, navy, dark olive. One accent at most: steel grey, a single signal orange or red.
- Structure. Shoulders that hold their shape, jackets that stop at the hip, trousers with a clean line.
- Military references, not costume. The bomber, the field jacket, the parka. No camo, no patches spelling out a fake army.
- Small, technical graphics. Unit IDs, codes, a single kanji. Placed like insignia, not like decoration.
- Fit is everything. Neomilitarism falls apart when clothes are too big. Fitted, not tight.
Look 1: the security contractor
The core neomilitarism outfit. A black cyberpunk bomber jacket, a plain black tee, slim black cargos, boots. The SYSTEM 7 premium bomber is close to the ideal: it draws on classified control interfaces and industrial schematics, with a compact unit identification mark on the chest and the technical detail kept for the back, exactly where a corporate unit would put it. With the NM cargo pants (98% cotton, 2% elastane, structured but with stretch), it looks issued rather than bought.
Look 2: the executive
The corpo look for people who own the security contractors. Swap the cargos for tailored trousers and the boots for clean leather shoes, and let the jacket do the signalling. The EIKOU premium bomber is built around 栄光, glory, in Neo-Tokyo geometry, a design for a city that runs on ambition. Under it, a fine black knit or a crisp black tee. No other graphics.
Look 3: the field operative
The lighter, more technical version for spring, autumn and travel. A windbreaker over a fitted hoodie, slim joggers, trainers. The SYSTEM 7 windbreaker matches the bomber's unit graphics, so you can build a full set. Underneath, the LEAD hoodie: a single bold kanji, clean black and white lines, neon katanas as the only flash of colour. If you are unsure where this ends and techwear begins, techwear vs cyberpunk draws the line.
Look 4: the winter deployment
Neomilitarism is at its best in cold weather, because outerwear is where military design shines. A dark parka, a cyberpunk hoodie underneath, cargos and boots. The BLLTPRF parka carries 防弾, bulletproof, across the back, with the word repeated in katakana beneath it: armour that does not look like armour. Keep everything under it black.
The five-piece neomilitarism capsule
If you want to build the style from scratch, these five pieces cover every look above:
| Piece | Why | Our pick |
|---|---|---|
| Bomber | The uniform of the whole style | SYSTEM 7 premium bomber |
| Parka | Winter, and the most military silhouette | BLLTPRF parka |
| Fitted hoodie | The mid-layer for everything | LEAD hoodie |
| Cargo trousers | Structure and pockets | NM pants |
| Plain black tee | Under all of it | Any dark tee |
Add black boots and you are done. For outerwear choices in more depth, read the cyberpunk jackets guide.
Neomilitarism in Night City
The style tells you who holds power in the game. Corporate soldiers wear it as armour, executives wear it as tailoring, and every street gang defines itself against it, which is why it pairs so well with our guide to Cyberpunk 2077 gangs. Its roots go back to the corporate security of 1980s cyberpunk films and to Japanese corporate culture, a link explored in why cyberpunk looks like Tokyo. Even Johnny Silverhand, the game's great anti-corporate rebel, borrows from it: his military trousers and boots are surplus from the same world. See Johnny Silverhand outfits.
Fit notes before you buy
- Premium bombers: true to size. Take your normal size for the structured look; size up only if you layer a thick hoodie underneath.
- Hoodies: B&C Inspire Hooded, 80% organic cotton and 20% recycled polyester, true to size and slim. Your normal size keeps the clean line.
- Parkas and windbreakers: check the size chart on each product page.
- Returns: 30 days if the size is wrong, sale items included.
Frequently asked questions
What is neomilitarism in Cyberpunk 2077?
One of the game's four fashion styles, with the tagline "substance over style". It is the corporate look: clean, dark, structured clothing with military references, worn by corporate security and executives.
What are the four styles in Cyberpunk 2077?
Entropism (necessity over style), Kitsch (style over substance), Neomilitarism (substance over style) and Neokitsch (substance and style).
How do I dress neomilitarism in real life?
Build around a black or dark olive bomber, add fitted dark layers and cargo or tailored trousers, keep graphics small and technical, and make sure everything fits close.
Is neomilitarism the same as techwear?
They overlap. Techwear is about function (fabrics, pockets, weatherproofing); neomilitarism is about image (authority, structure, corporate power). Many outfits work as both.

No. NEOMACHI is not affiliated with CD Projekt Red. Our designs are original artwork.
